One Done, Many To Go!

And so it goes, we have finally received email confirmation from AsiaTravel regarding our accommodation reservation for next year’s photo-shoot. One less thing to worry about for us then.

In the mean time, we have been digging and looking through photos of ourselves when we were toddlers. We had lots of laugh looking at how cute, funny or ridiculous we looked!

Shan was particularly fixated on certain photos of me. *laughs* Not sure why, but here’s one that I really like. Go on and laugh. Enjoy!

Updated (31 October 2010): shan
I really love the cute little boy that Feng was and at the same time those photos also provided some real good entertainment for me to laugh over. Especially certain photos… Haha! But here’s one of me! Enjoy too! 🙂

Something Blue

While was researching for our wedding, I always came by this “Something Blue” from the overseas wedding blog. So it’s only when I further researched that I found out that it was a tradition overseas to have the following:

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

Upon googling, you will find out that each item is supposed to bring good luck to the bride and having all of the above-mentioned items signifies a happy marriage.

Something old symbolizes continuity with the bride’s family and the past.
Something new means optimism and hope for the bride’s new life ahead.
Something borrowed is usually an item borrowed from a happily married friend or family member, whose good fortune in marriage is supposed to carry over to the new bride.
Something blue signifies love, modesty and fidelity as blue in the past has been associated with purity.

I’m so tempted to have these interesting little items for my wedding though it’s not our tradition to do it but isn’t it fun to have these little items in your wedding to make it meaningful? 🙂

In consideration that our wedding theme is going Blue and White, I’m so wanting to have blue heels to match my wedding gown! 🙂

Wedding Color Theme

Still not very sure what color them we are going with but we have been thinking about using blue-white as our main color theme since we used fuchsia-black for our solemnization. 🙂

Here goes an inspiration board that I made using Wedding Wire. Still not very sure what shade of blue we are going with. Who knows. We might even change our mind on the color theme! 🙂

The Trip, And The Car.

The past two weeks was simply a big, logistic challenge.

We were intend on making our pre-wedding shoot a fun experience. Thus, it was a challenge for us to come up with a place that was beautiful, a plan that was within our budget, and a trip we would enjoy! Of course, we had already given this some thought beforehand, so it was down to the details this time round.

Sourcing for the best travel deals.
Calculating, and re-calculating travel expenses.
Coordinating travel schedules with our make-up artist and photographer.
Sending emails, and waiting for replies.

Alas, we’re almost done with the travel arrangements. Deliberately left out some details here – we’ll be sure to let you in on them when we post our blog entries next year!

Having settled The Trip, we turned our attention to The Car. More than just a tool for travelling, the bridal car ought to be special! Now that we’ve spent some time (see previous post) checking out the available options in Singapore, I have to say that we’re sort of limited in choices.

We wanted something spacious. Something that looks different. Something with character. We found some that probably meets the criteria, but we didn’t really like the price tag.

However, all is not lost – there is hope.

Where’s my Ideal Car? Part II

Well, as per the previous entry, you would have realised that we kind of failed to get what we want. We tried looking for alternatives but there just aren’t enough special wedding cars around for rental.

So we decided to email back one of the exquisite car owners our rough itinerary thinking that ours is a simple one since we only need it for the morning half day to fetch us around. But as expected, the owner said our itinerary that of a typical wedding and is not exactly short so he can’t really give us a discount. We told him we had a tight budget to work with and he was asking how much are we looking at and if it’s too low he can’t be of service to us anymore.

It’s not like Feng and I love that vehicle to death but it’s just that it fits our theme the best. We even looked about for alternatives and came up with one. But eventually we went back to thinking bout renting the one choice that is not within our theme colors. Reason being the cost is really more affordable for a half-day rental and I have all along been wanting to have THAT VEHICLE as my wedding car. So I told Feng, “Heck, I rather have a clash and have something I want and save that money for the car decor.”

So Feng had just given the owner a call to ask ’bout the quotation for a half-day rental and it’s quite a good quote! Rental of the car will be in Jan 2011 since our wedding is in October 2011. Hehez. Probably have to do a comparison with another price quote to decide who to rent from. I MUST HAVE THAT CAR! 🙂

Once again, I asked Feng are we going to post a photo of our wedding car. He said we could probably post a few photos of a few cars and probably you all can guess what’s our final decision. 🙂

Where’s my Ideal Car?

I’m down with probably food poisoning yesterday though the doctor didn’t really said anything today considering I was so much better today. There was giddiness, vomiting and diarrhea yesterday and all was over when I fall back to sleep after that tiring few minutes of crap. Thanks to Feng for staying by my side then! 🙂

Back to some updates! We had made our trip reservation on Saturday and hopefully the tour agency replied today to confirm our details! 🙂

As per the blog title, we started looking for our wedding car yesterday. We wanted something white to fit our theme and it obviously cannot be any normal car. Haha! So we started emailing some of them and the price is just horribly expensive for the exquisite vehicle owner that we emailed. Hopefully the 3rd one wouldn’t disappoint us since that is probably the most affordable of the lot. 🙁

It’s interesting to note that one of the vehicle owners told us that he had booking until Nov 2011! Like WHAT?! Seriously people book everything early, isn’t it? Rather book early then to lose out, especially when it’s wedding related and everyone wants everything perfect. 🙂

So book early for everything people! 🙂

Updated (18 October 2011)
Seems like our 3rd choice doesn’t have the color we want! Sad. 🙁

Logistics Headache.

Honestly at the start I didn’t know that planning the logistics can be such a headache. But comparing planning something for work and planning for my wedding, I rather do the logistics! So that’s looking at the brighter side. 🙂

But yesterday I was really having a very tiring time planning my finance AND also settling the logistics issues with Feng as we replied to emails sent by the two female genies who will be going with us for the pre-wedding photoshoot. As mentioned previously, we asked Cherry if her husband is interested in joining us. So Cherry said he’s eager to join her in the trip and that’s when the logistics headache started. We asked for their preference of extending the trip since Feng and I will be doing the same so as to enjoy some alone time. Hehez. Then after a number of emails, we finally got them settled today when both Grace and Cherry replied! Phew.

So now we have the choice of rooms settled and the time of departure settled. We can finally start gathering everyone’s particulars and do our bookings soon! Now Cherry seems to be more excited than me in going for the pre-wedding photoshoot. Haha!

I can’t wait to go for the photoshoot too! It will be a triple date with Grace and her husband, Cherry and her husband and not forgetting, US! Super looking forward to it! 😀

Probably time for me to inform Ted Collection on the change of period that I need the gowns! I hate making calls but this is one call I have to make! 🙂

I’m sorry if this blog looks plain with no photos since it’s all about logistics and all right now. And the less photos you see here also means the more surprise for those who are attending. Hehez. Stay tuned for more updates! 🙂

Logistics Logistics!

Current Feng and I are in the midst of settling our logistics for our pre-wedding photoshoot. Since as you all know that we are doing an ala-carte wedding, we have to plan all the logistics ourselves also. Which means having to email all our genies to enquire about their schedule.

The only hiccup I had during the planning of the logistics was trying to confirm my makeup artist. As Dana has just given birth to a baby boy and not being really sure if her husband can handle both her kids when she’s not around, she said she can only confirm her availability in February next year. After discussing with Feng, we decided that it might be too late since we really don’t want any last minute hiccups to happen so close to our photoshoot dates. So that’s when we decided to start looking around for alternatives.

After looking around SGBrides and local forums, I have sent quite some emails to a few makeup artists. Probably I’m just too picky, I ended up having less than 5 choices for my alternatives. Luckily for me, the one lady I had in mind was available for our dates! And at a reasonable cost! And she’s none other than Cherry Au, who used to be Dana’s student! 😀

So the excited us decided to further enquire with Cherry whether her husband is interested to join her for our photoshoot, which we will be having overseas. The reason why we are doing this is ‘cos we will be going to a resort and the cost of having another person to go is actually not that big a difference, but of ‘cos the husband will be a self-paying individual for the trip.

I’m not ’bout to reveal where is the location. We decided to keep this a secret until probably after our photoshoot. We are trying to keep as many things a mystery as possible, giving our guests more surprise for the day. Hehez. 🙂

So now we are just waiting for more details from the resort before we furnished the information to our genies before booking the trip! So looking forward to the day! 😀

Post Number One

As all stories goes, there is always the first word that started it all. So here you go, my first post here at YAWB! Catchy name eh?

With this blog, it will serve as our wedding journal and accompany us through this one year of wedding preparation! We’ll try our best to update this space here with all the juicy details, so sit back and enjoy reading!

Hello World!

Alright alright. I was trying to be geeky by using every programming language’s first programming example, “Hello World” to create my first post in our wedding blog.

Today, Feng and I finally decided to use some of our free time to start creating our wedding blog! This idea has been going on in our minds but we just didn’t put in the time to start work. Call us lazy bums or sleepy heads, I don’t care. At least the blog is finally up! I’m so proud of us. 🙂

Since this blog is created, thought I will at least give my first greetings to everyone. We will surely update this little corner of ours with many random ideas we have while planning for our wedding!

So stay tuned! 😀
